CHEO Foundation

This year MCA Ottawa partnered with the CHEO Foundation’s Kids These Days Program and match up to $15,000 in donations to Jayden, an 8 year old who was in a traumatic car accident in December 2023, and has been re-learning how to walk with the help and support of the CHEO Foundation. See below for more about Jayden and the support he’s received from the CHEO Foundation and You!

In December 2023, Jayden was in a traumatic car accident. Stuck in the vehicle for 45 minutes, he suffered severe injuries, including a crushed pelvis, leg swelling, internal bleeding, and a neck injury. After emergency surgery and a medically induced coma, Jayden spent months at CHEO recovering from surgeries, nerve damage, and rehabilitation. His mother, Cora, has been a pillar of strength, supporting Jayden through his recovery while navigating challenges as a single mom. Eight-year-old Jayden has made remarkable progress, and celebrated moments of joy like walking again and enjoying school. Known for his humour, kindness, and love of learning, Jayden continues to inspire his family, who have learned to embrace each step of his recovery.

A total of $42,870 was raised for Jayden during the CHEO Telethon that launched on Monday, May 26th and ended with the live broadcast on CTV Ottawa on Saturday, June 7th. This could not have been achieved without your support, and we at MCA Ottawa would like to extend a very special thanks to all those who were able to donate to a great cause!
